THE ALLEY
Back of house for the Mess Hall, locations of laundry, storage, recycling, some senior staff housing etc. AMERICAN PIE “Well, Jack be nimble, Jack be quick” – for the rest of your life, this song will mean LUNCH TIME!! Take a listen here! APPLE TREE In front of the Dining Hall, it is a GREAT place to meet under. BEYOND THE BUGLE PODCAST Camp Towanda's podcast about all things camp! Great way to learn about things to come this summer! BIGS & LITTLES Camp Big Brother & Big Sisters are older campers who are friends and mentors for the youngest campers (the Littles!). BIRTHDAY SQUAD With an.. H..and an A..and a P P Y! We celebrate everyone's birthday at camp! Even if it doesn't happen during camp..Winter Birthday Party! |
THE BIG TOP
It is big and it has a top (looks like a circus tent!). GAGA happens here! THE BOARD Where one finds the schedule, birthdays, weather and Top Ten Lists. BREAKOUT The secret and exciting start to Olympics... if we actually have Olympics this year. BUG JUICE Some say fruit punch, some say liquid jello! BUGLE The sound heard around camp for change of activities. Take a listen here! CAMPAPALOOZA A great music event! Live performance of classic rock songs and maybe a few new songs...maybe... CANTEEN A can to hold water! Just kidding! A great place to play games and where we occasionally hand out candy or ice cream. |
CULINARY
Optional activity that many campers sign up for. Cooking lessons that take place in our country kitchen at The Farm. DARON’S COOKIES Our chocolate chip cookies...one is not enough, but 2 are too much... THE DINNER BELL Its a bell....in front of the dinning hall....if you see someone about to ring it, best to cover your ears! DOMINO HOUSE One of our Senior Staff Housing Cabins. Don’t lean on the walls...hence the name. |
THE DORM GIRLS
aka the D-O-R-M-G-I-R-L-S . . . these are the spiritual leaders of camp and the oldest campers on Girls Camp. They live in the Dorm building! Thus the name! ELECTIVES Elective Periods...Not to be confused with options, these are not optional. These are elected on designated days. ELECTIONALITY All of camp gets to vote for the Camp Presidents (always a co-ed pair of 1 lower camp camper and 1 upper camp camper). E.T.B. Early-To-Bed. Learn it, love it, respect it. A great opportunity to catch up on some Zzzzzz. EVENING ACTIVITY After dinner events. Could be a Talent show, or a play, a Carnival, who knows! Every night is different. 4TGOC (pronounced: For-Da-Gock) means do it For The Good Of Camp! |
THE FARM
Located just down the road, home of Culinary, and some senior staff. THE FIELD HOUSE Our main huge indoor, multi-use facility. Lots of things to look at including all the Olympic plaques and banners. FIRE COUNCIL RING Located at Skyview...a great place to watch the stars and cook S’mores. FIREWORKS ON THE 5TH....OR THE 3RD Amazing fireworks display at Sunset Lake celebrating the 4th of July (date of actual fireworks may vary!). Choreographed by Mitch to the 1812 overture. FREE PLAY After dinner free time...Visit the Garden, use the outdoor work out machines, hang out with your siblings or cousins or anyone! Might be campus only (girls on Girls Camp, boys on Boys Camp) or the elusive All Camp Free Play! FNF “You’re watching Friday Nite Flix!” Our weekly highlights show. GAGA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
The annual championship to find a champion GaGa player on Boys' Camp! THE GARDEN CLUB A great place to visit during Free Play...where TLC actually means Tomatoes, Lettuce, Cucumbers. GHOST Mitch is the GRAND MASTER of this domain. There are a lot of rules, including the Tuesday rules. Once you play, you’ll love it! Click here for more! GIRLS' SING Very popular event! THE GRASSY KNOLL
The hill in front of the Mess Hall where we line up at breakfast and dinner and hold our weekly Grateful Dead barbecues. GRATEFUL DEAD A sure sign it is a Sunday barbecue. GREEN MACHINE We have a great recycling program. Similar to Inspection Perfection. THE GROVE The circle of chairs near the Dorm. A perfect spot to read a book! THE GULLY Our Indoor Hockey Arena! HA Learn this quickly; Laugh at Mitch’s jokes or he will continue to repeat them. Ba Dum Da! |
HORSE RACING
No actual horses involved. Basketball shooting contest. Bet on who will score the most baskets. A great event hosted by the Dorm Girls. INFIRMARY Our on site health center. INFIRMARY LAWN In front of the Infirmary. Sometimes we have breakfast here or ice cream, sometimes we watch FNF or the All-Star Baseball Game! INSPECTION and INSPECTION PERFECTION Happens each morning, ensures some order is kept in the bunks (think chore boards and dust pans). Inspection Perfection is awarded at the end of each week to the highest scoring bunk and that bunks gets to display the Inspection Perfection banner. A big honor! KNOCKOUT Free play foul shooting contest everyone plays. LEGO ROOM Doesn't everyone wish they could have a room dedicated entirely to LEGO!? The LEGO room is a great space to explore STEM projects! |
LETTER WRITING DAY
The letter for today is....T for Towanda! Writing letters home is a great way to tell your parents all about the exciting things happening at camp! PORCH BREAKFAST
A great opportunity to have breakfast in your pajamas! Sometimes it happens on the bunk porches, sometimes on the Infirmary Lawn. A true porch breakfast features Krispie Kreme donuts, but not guaranteed! QUIDDITCH From the popular Harry Potter series, this game is fun and challenging! REVEILLE The bugle call you will learn to love and respect the most. Take a listen here! ROPE BURNING A major Olympic event. Lots of energy, lots of excitement. You've got to be there to really understand it. SHANGRA-LA As the name applies, it is the original Towanda overnight camping spot. SKYVIEW What a view! S`MORE A campfire delicacy. |
SUNSCREEN
“Don’t forget it”, at least 3x a day. TAPS The bugle call at the end of the day. Please stand still and silent...seriously. Take a listen here! TETHER BALL Very popular with the campers, not so much with the counselors! THE TEE PEE & JUNK YARD BAND One of our overnight camping sites, along with Shangra-La, Turtle Rock and the Treehouses. Also home to the Junk Yard Band! TT The Towanda Times, our camp newspaper, you now have a free lifetime subscription (on the web during the winter months.) Check it out here! THE TREEHOUSES Our 2 treehouses are great for rainy days, yoga classes and the entrance to our self-belaying challenge course, a great part of O&A! TURTLE ROCK One of our overnight campsites, on the other side of the lake, it helps bring people out of their shells. |
THE WHITE ROCK
The center of camp and a main meeting place for friends and relatives. Some even say, it was once the entrance to a secret underground tunnel. It should not be confused with the Other White Rock or other local cheap sedimentary imitations. THE WHITE ROCK CAFE This lounge area is in the Field House, no where near the White Rock. Lots of Ping-Pong. |
